Committees allow for a number of leadership opportunities for members to help the chapter officers carry out important duties. Committees may be permanent or temporary, and are led by the appointed chairpersons. Sub-committees may be appointed to work within a committee. Committee members may volunteer for a committee or sub-committee based on individual interest and abilities.

We encourage you to sign up as a member of one or several committees vital for the successful operation of our chapter. Not only would your dedicated support and hard work be greatly appreciated by your fellow chapter members, but you will be awarded 40 enhanced membership points for steadfast participation in a committee (the participation requirements will be set by the committee chairperson and points will be awarded after satisfactory participation has been met).

Scholarship Committee Chairperson – VP of Scholarship Team Lead: Help lead Honors Study Topic activities Coordinate faculty and student recognition Provide information on scholarships Oversee chapter-sponsored scholarship events

Leadership Committee Chairperson – VP of Leadership Team Lead: Help coordinate officer elections Prepare for new officer orientations Implement chapter-sponsored leadership events

Service Committee Chairperson - VP of Service Team Lead: Help oversee International Service Program activities Facilitate campus and community service events

Membership Committee Chairperson - VP of Membership Team Lead: Assist the advisor in preparing membership invitations for eligible students Oversee phone-a-thon and membership drives inviting eligible students to attend orientation Prepare for orientations and inductions Contact members regarding the chapter’s calendar of events Coordinate evening or online meetings, which provide opportunities for members with varied schedules to participate

Fellowship Committee Chairperson – VP of Membership & Treasurer Team Lead: Help coordinate activities with other chapters Cultivate a relationship with campus organizations, faculty, staff and community members Assist the advisor in planning travel to regional and international meetings

Public Relations Committee Chairpersons - Webmaster & Secretary Team Lead: Help promote the chapter at all levels of the Society Write and submit articles to campus and community newspapers Produce issues of the chapter newsletter Oversee the development and updates to the chapter website Take photographs at all chapter events Send chapter newsletters to the Chapter Programs Coordinator at Phi Theta Kappa Headquarters
